A randomized controlled trial demonstrated a 3-month dietary intervention had a fairly significant effect on moderate to severe depression, with a remarkably greater improvement in the dietary intervention group and 32% of patients in this group achieving remission [ 35 ].
Excerpts
In the Framingham Heart Study, using stored serum samples, subjects with serum 25OHD concentrations below 15 ng/mL had a 60% higher risk of a cardiovascular event over a 7-year time period, and this remained highly significant even after adjustment for other risk factors [ 43 ].
The ViDA trial also did not find an effect on cancer mortality whereas the larger VITAL trial showed a marginally significant lower cancer mortality in subjects receiving vitamin D (2000 IU/d), especially when deaths during the first 2 years of follow up were excluded.
When several trials were combined, a modestly significant lower cancer mortality was found in the subjects receiving vitamin D supplements [ 65 ].
In terms of adherence, although only a statistical trend was observed, the ADHD group had the highest adherence to the Western-like pattern.
a positive trendgold
The patterns we found may indicate a positive trend between increasing dietary adherence and a lower incidence of these adverse health outcomes.
Data from previous studies, including data from the Portuguese Household Budget Survey, showed a decreasing trend in the adherence to the MD in the Portuguese population [ 8 , 29 , 30 ].
Studies that previously tested LCHF responses in athletes reported variable results, with some documenting a decrease in circulating lipids [ 13 ], whereas others reported neutral [ 14 , 15 ] or an increasing trend [ 16 , 17 ] across all lipid parameters.
In women, red meat protein intake was significantly inversely associated with HT risk ( p -trend = 0.044), whereas white meat protein showed a marginally significant inverse association ( p -trend = 0.059).
Using the different time periods, we can see an increasing trend from 2000 to the present of trials performed using foods and supplements ( Figure 2 ).
Univariate results showed a trend in carbohydrate intake, indicating more carbohydrate consumption in the BD group (see Table 2 ).
34.5 ± 20.2 μM, p = 0.026), while the 24 subjects in the probiotics group showed a trend in the reduction of microbiota toxins.
Improvement was significantly large for VAS pain and WOMAC function, moderate for total WOMAC, and nearly significant for WOMAC stiffness ( Table 2 and Figure 2 and Figure 3 ).
However, a highly significant decrease was observed in the case of L. fermentum Y57, L. rhamnosus FM9, and L. fermentum FM6, with 41%, 37%, and 31% values, respectively.

However, when compared to the other groups, the HFCD group’s triglyceride level increase was extremely significant when assessed using Bonferroni’s post hoc analysis ( Figure 7 ). 3.6.5.
Other categories of employment status change were either marginally significant or not significant among SNAP participants.
Sucralose increased the Firmicutes abundance showing a decreasing trend in Bacteroidetes, with lower alpha diversity [ 49 ].

To sum up, a diet rich in vitamins and minerals exerts an extremely significant effect on ovulation.
A marginally significant correlation between trabecular bone density and 25[OH]D concentrations was also reported [ 91 ].
Expression of PGC1α was significantly lower in WE-treated cells, while NRF1 showed a trend of being increased and TFAM was virtually identical to control.
In overview of the results, the BEY-induced protective effects on epithelial barrier integrity are mediated by the PTEN/PCNA pathway; highly significant down-regulation was measured, and the PCNA load in colon epithelial tissues was further confirmed using immune histopathological examinations. 3.5.
An analogical trend was observed for tea, as tea consumption was also inversely associated with diabetes risk but with a borderline significant trend ≥4 cups/day vs. none [ 52 ].
Similarly, daily consumption of ≥4 cups (946 mL) of tea was associated with a reduction in important vascular event risk, but with a nonsignificant trend [ 30 ].
In addition, significant associations were found between high MetS index values and cortical cataracts, and a borderline non-significant association with PSC cataract was also found [ 31 ].
The change in BMI z-score at T6 and T12 in the 2020 group shows an increasing trend, compared to a decreasing trend in 2019 ( Figure 2 ).
