In the skeletal muscle, PPARγ gene expression levels showed a decreasing trend over time in both the glucose and L-fucose groups ( Figure 4 B), but no difference was observed in CD36 gene expression levels.
Excerpts
Although it was not the main aim of this study (i.e., underpowered to robustly detect effects on HOMA-IR), we nevertheless observed that BCAA restriction was associated with a decrease in HOMA-IR levels in healthy subjects assigned to the BCAA-restricted diet over seven days, with a p -value approaching significance.

A systematic review demonstrates the significant clinical benefits of fibre-supplemented enteral feeds in patients suffering from diarrhoea, with a positive trend also observed for patients with constipation [ 24 ].
We found that rat offspring born to dams fed an obesity-inducing high fat diet (HFD) exhibited a highly significant increase in local mammary tumor recurrence after initially responding to tamoxifen therapy [ 7 ].
Discussion This study demonstrated a decreasing trend in the levels of EPA, DHA, and EPA/AA, but not of AA and DGLA.
In a multivariate model, neither high MDS nor high physical activity alone were significantly associated with PCa-specific mortality, but HRs for non-PCa mortality were of borderline significance ( Table 3 ).
a strong trendgold
There was also a strong trend to less IgE-associated eczema, but there was no difference in “any IgE-mediated disease” [ 83 ].
A highly significant association between prescription of gastric acid suppression medication and anti-allergy drugs was detected over time [ 20 ], confirming again the allergy-protective function of gastric digestion.
a positive trendgold
In our cohort of moderate hypercholesterolemic patients, we observed a positive trend between plasma 27-OHC and non-HDL-C, but no correlations of oxysterols with TC and LDL-C, although 24-OHC levels positively correlated with apoB concentrations.
However, the placebo group showed a trend towards the deterioration of CARTS, suggesting a potential favorable effect of B12 on DAN despite the absence of a statistically significant result.
However, this risk was marginally significant for UC.
Inclusion of the interaction term resulted in a nominally significant PC2 vs. group interaction ( P FDR = 0.3883, P raw = 0.0485) showing that the effect of PC2 was stronger in the meat group (0.346) compared with dairy (0.050).
The water content of Mg may be significant not only in the water used for drinking, but also in water used for cooking, since a higher concentration of Mg in the water used for boiling may reduce the leakage of Mg in food during cooking, and may reduce the loss of Mg in the boiled food.
This might explain why we observed an association between absolute concentrations of EPA and AD dementia and a borderline significant association between the relative proportion of EPA and AD dementia but non-significant findings for the relationships between the other percentage PUFA and dementia and AD dementia.
When participants were analyzed by baseline 25OHD category, there was a strong protective effect of vitamin D supplementation in those with deseasonalized 25OHD <25 nmol/L (HR 0.11, 95%CI 0.02–0.51; p = 0.005; adjusting for age, sex, and ethnicity), along with a highly significant interaction when comparing the effect of vitamin D in participants with a baseline 25OHD below and above 25 nmol/L ( p for interaction = 0.001).

Significant direct correlations were observed for waist circumference (r = 0.238; p = 0.026), waist-to-hip/waist-to-height ratios (r = 0.315; p = 0.005 and r = 0.234; p = 0.029, respectively), while only a positive trend was observed for body weight and BMI.
UCP-3 also showed a trend towards up-regulation in the Flinax-supplemented rats ( Figure 6 C).
A greater part of the variability in blood lipid concentrations could be explained by the additive effects of several SNPs, which, taken individually, may only have small, and barely significant, effects [ 10 , 11 ].
a positive trendgold
In another meta-analysis of adjunctive NAC in MDD, there was no significant difference in efficacy between NAC and placebo, but individuals treated with adjunctive NAC showed a positive trend towards efficacy, especially in those with higher MADRS scores [ 53 ].
One highly significant risk factor for IDA is the consumption of large amounts of cow’s milk without iron supplementation [ 13 ], which has also been associated with occult gastrointestinal bleeding [ 2 ].
a clear trendgold
One study reports a clear trend towards a reduced BMD in preterm infants, but no significant difference was found [ 47 ], whereas others report significantly reduced bone mineral density in former preterm infants when compared to term infants [ 48 , 49 ].
There is quite significant evidence on the role of breastfeeding in terms of these effects [ 1 , 3 , 7 , 8 ].
Early French observations recorded patients beginning HEN at the mean age of 5.4 years old and a decreasing trend.
Moreover, this appears relevant considering the evolution of the relationship of BMI–age, which can be characterized by a more or less significant increase or decrease, especially in mild overweight.
A recent meta-analysis evidenced a positive slightly significant correlation between magnesium intake and BMD only for the femoral neck and total hip, but not for the lumbar spine [ 312 ].
