Interestingly, a phylogenetic study of the PD ring identified a clear trend, in which the PD rings of the primitive unicellular eukaryotes with smaller genomes are larger than those of the multiplastidic cells of land plants [ 5 , 49 ]; therefore, C. merolae is one of the most suitable organisms for studying the involvement of the PD ring in plastid division.
It is important to note that, during the early stages of ovulation in mouse oocytes, PLIN2 expression levels show an increasing trend, which might suggest that it is involved in the maintenance of the lipid stocks that are necessary to support embryo development following the fertilization of IVM (in vitro-matured) oocytes [ 12 ].
MitoQ and Nac, when administered alone, showed a trend similar to the untreated condition in both timings (12 h: MitoQ: 117 ± 19.81; Nac: 99.33 ± 5.16; Untr: 100.1 ± 10.47; ns) (48 h: MitoQ: 105.1 ± 13.48; Nac: 93.67 ± 12.53; Untr: 100 ± 10.01; ns) ( Figure 2 B,C).
The semi-quantitative evaluation of immunostaining intensity (IFIS) in Table 1 showed that the level of NRF-2 and NF-κB proteins had a decreasing trend in a dose- and time-dependent manner, with statistical significance of the different expressions among the groups of treated cells with respect to the untreated ones.
The semiquantitative evaluation of immunostaining intensity, reported as the Immunofluorescence Intensity Score (IFIS) in Table 1 , showed that the level of cleaved PARP-1, Caspase-3, APAF-1, and MAPLC3 proteins had an increasing trend in a dose- and time-dependent manner, with statistical significance of the different expression among the groups of treated cells, and with respect to untreated cells.
Whiteman and collaborators analyzed recent trends and estimated future melanoma incidence (a projection until 2031) in six populations with European heritage in terms of UV exposure patterns and different approaches to melanoma control and found an increasing trend of melanoma incidence in United States white population, in United Kingdom, Swedish, and Norwegian populations, a steady incidence in New Zealand, and a decreasing one in Australia [ 11 ].
