Y i = α + β 1 ⁢ X i + β 2 ⁢ D i ⁢ N ⁢ A ⁢ V ⁢ G ⁢ s + β 3 ⁢ D i ⁢ A ⁢ V ⁢ G ⁢ s + β 4 ⁢ ( X i ⁢ D i ⁢ N ⁢ A ⁢ V ⁢ G ⁢ s ) (5) + β 5 ⁢ ( X i ⁢ D i ⁢ A ⁢ V ⁢ G ⁢ s ) + ε i Results There was a marginally significant positive correlation between average medium alpha ratios and C parameter values, R 2 = 0.11, r = 0.33, t (36) = 2.06, p uncorrected = 0.023, p corrected = 0.093, BF 10 = 3.96.
Is There a Future for This Line of Research? Given the applied aspect of this research—identifying lying or truthful testimonies by individual witnesses—we are obviously not interested in social metrology, in marginally significant relationships obtained in studies with large samples of participants, or only when many factors are included in the analyses (Hartwig and Bond, 2014 ).
Despite this, we were able to confirm predictions that the first violin player should have higher heart rate than the others and that the two players with a supportive role during second movement had low HR and high HF during the second concert when the group felt “safer.” Despite our small sample size, the total between movement variation in heart rate and high frequency power approached significance.
Specifically, we controlled for wave of data collection and found that people in more recent waves valued friendships more (linear effect of wave; r = 0.035, p < 0.001), were healthier ( r = 0.068, p < 0.001), were happier ( r = 0.066, p < 0.001), and reported higher life satisfaction ( r = 0.057, p < 0.001); none of our substantive findings changed (although some marginally significant effects became non-significant).
