The addition of pembrolizumab was associated with a favorable trend toward improved event-free survival versus placebo plus CRT, but the difference did not reach statistical significance in the ITT population (the 24-month event-free survival rate was 63.2% for the pembrolizumab arm versus 56.2% in the placebo arm). 62 Currently, several clinical trials are exploring the role of different ICIs in LACC setting ( Table 1 ).

While a direct comparison between isotype and anti-IFNγ treated mice inoculated with BCG prior to viral challenge did not reach statistical significance, animals treated with anti-IFNγ showed a clear trend towards more severe disease and higher viral loads (Fig. 2F, G ).
