Although some of the previous studies showed a trend towards a higher frequency of OLNMs in patients with higher pT stage or poorer differentiated diseases 14 , 21 , the majority of studies did not demonstrate any correlation between histologic grade or pT stage and the prevalence of OLNM 10 , 17 , 18 , 22 .

Another possibly significant link between gut microbiota and behaviours is serotonin, or 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT), which is involved in the modulation of a variety of physiological and psychological processes 13 , 14 .

All these predictions were highly significant recording an FDR of 9.26e−12, 3.34e−06, 5.86e−06; respectively.

Considering the data presented in Table 1 , a clear trend imposed by the different operating conditions can be observed.
