Furthermore, there was significantly higher vegetation cover at collapsed burrows than at fresh burrows in the semi-arid savannah site (Chi 2 = 7.71, p < 0.05), and a marginally significant difference between the burrow age classes in the mesic grassland (Chi 2 = 5.62, p = 0.06, Supplementary Table S.1 ).

The only marginally significant result (p = 0.06) suggests a difference in speciation rate between tropically and subtropically distributed lineages, with higher rates in the tropics.
