A pharmacodynamic study during a phase II clinical trial with nilotinib in KIT-altered melanoma [ 16 ] showed a trend towards a reduction of growth factor expression in good responders compared to poor responders suggesting a link between growth factors and resistance to KIT inhibitors ( Figure 2 ).
Excerpts
Patients in cluster A showed a trend toward longer TTP as well as overall survival (OS).
The effect of Si306 was similar in U87-TxR cells, while pro-Si306 showed a trend of decreasing the pAKT/AKT relative expression.

Three studies did not find a clear trend [ 4 , 23 , 24 ], while three studies found an increase in the incidence [ 2 , 14 , 20 ].
The study therefore shows that chemoradiotherapy produced a nearly significant increase in PFS, a significant delay in the initiation of subsequent therapy, and significantly better local control, even if it did not lead to a significant survival benefit.
Notably, the differential expression of highly significant DE genes from the RNA-Seq analysis was confirmed by qRT-PCR analysis ( Figure 2 b).
The serum concentration of the monoclonal paraprotein does not correlate with fracture risk, but the class of the immunoglobulin may be significant.
The results showed a high significant decrease in the angiogenesis when the cells were treated with both PTX and Sor, in addition, high dose of combined treatment (PTX 4 nM + Sor 1 μM) resulted in the least angiogenic effect in terms of vessel density ( Figure 8 B), total vessels length ( Figure 8 C), and total branching points ( Figure 8 D) and showed highly significant results compared with non-treated control cells.
Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed a trend of shorter progression time by interim imaging reassessment for patients with at least three CTCs (median TTP 79 days) at baseline compared to 0–2 CTC (median TTP 94 days) ( p = 0.090) ( Figure S2A ). 2.2.3.
Highly significant correlations were also found with respect to relapse-free survival (RFS) in several subsets.
In addition, regarding to the highly significant improvement in OS for patients with brain metastases, this combination may be preferred in this subgroup.
In contrast, baseline anemia was shown to be a highly significant prognosticator in the radiotherapy group.
Elderly HNSCC patients with reduced kidney function who were treated with radiotherapy alone showed a trend towards lower OS, although statistical significance was not reached ( p = 0.112).
Moreover, three of them showed a trend of upregulation during disease progression from healthy controls to primary and metastatic melanoma cases. 2.
Increasing levels of haemoglobin and CRP were significantly associated with lower disease control rates during chemotherapy, whereas haemostatic biomarkers (D-dimer, F1+2) predicted for a lower probability of disease control with borderline significance.
As it was shown in Figure 1 C, the lower staining intensity of COX5B in tumorous, when compared to nontumorous part, were associated with a better prognosis in OS, recurrence-free survival (RFS) and metastasis-free survival (MFS), albeit a borderline significance in OS.
Because this difference is highly significant, it is possible that downregulation of NRBP2 may reflect an immature, progenitor-like state of MB cells, and that loss, or reduction, of NRBP2 expression during tumor formation relates to an undifferentiated state by which MB aggressiveness increases.
LPCs showed a trend towards reduced levels in samples from CCA, which reached statistical significance in those from PDAC patients.
In Korean women, the current mean age at menopause is lower than that in other countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia, or Japan but shows an increasing trend [ 17 ], which may possibly contribute to the increased breast cancer-related burden.
Subtype was significantly associated with the presence of distant metastasis at diagnosis and showed a trend towards significant association with lymphovascular invasion (LVI) at diagnosis, with a higher proportion of cases with LVI and distant metastasis for subtype A compared with B.
The presence of distant metastasis at diagnosis and recurrence after surgery are significantly more common for subtype A PNENs, and a trend towards significance was observed for LVI at diagnosis.
Even after adjusting for the cancer stage, the positivity of the D-marker panel and cancer progression remained associated with marginal significance, and the adjusted HR (95% CI) was 1.29 (0.92 to 1.80) (Model 2).
However, the mean Cl of the 1 h cohort was (range): 32.61 (19.76–72.67) L/h/m 2 , which is higher than previously published data of Cl in push injected VCR and corresponds well with our nearly statistically significant finding of higher Cl in the 1 h group compared to the push injection group.
Highly significant Pearson correlation coefficients were found for GATA3, FOXA1, and KRT14; a good correlation was found for KRT5/6 ( Figure 1 A).
However, in their concluding experiments only a trend towards significance over the randomly labeled approach could be established.
