After repeating the acquisition a second time and instructing patients thoroughly on remaining still for the entire duration of the acquisition, the motion was significantly reduced in the frontal projection, whereas a trend towards significance was observed in the lateral projection (V = 21.00, p-value = 0.031, 95% CI [1.5, 10.5], estimated sample median = 3.5 mm in the frontal projection, V = 15.00, p-value = 0.063, 95% CI [4.5, 10.0], estimated sample median = 7.5 mm in the lateral projection) (Fig. 4 ).

Post-hoc paired T-testing showed that all participants reported significantly higher anxiety levels in the stress condition compared to the control condition after the stress procedure ( t (45) = 7.17, p < 0.001), with a trend towards significance during scanning ( t (43) = 2.22, p = 0.032).

There was no significant interaction between the predator and the nutrient treatment, but a trend towards significance (Table 1 ; P = 0.032).

However, the Mann–Whitney U test comparing the biceps brachii group and the brachialis plus brachioradialis group on pronator teres toxin dose showed a trend towards significance ( p = 0.033, adjusted alpha = 0.0167), suggesting that patients in the biceps brachii group tended to receive a higher dose of pronator teres toxin.

Conversely, several linear regressions appeared significant for the AOT and, in particular, those concerning the gain of similarity of ADM during both the reaching (β = − 0.39, R 2 = 0.15, p = 0.02) and holding (β = − 0.39, R 2 = 0.15, p = 0.02) phases, with FDI during the holding phase showing a trend towards significance (β = − 0.34, R 2 = 0.11, p = 0.04 with threshold after FDR set at 0.02).

Conversely, confidence showed a trend towards significance for residents to be less confident in bias errors than in correct diagnoses, t (122) = 2.07, p = .041, 95% CI [1.00 17.00], but no difference in confidence between bias errors and other errors, t (92) = 1.53, p = .130).

The number of cytogenetic aberrations showed a trend towards significance across groups, with a median of 1 aberration (range 0–3) in group 1, 0 aberrations (range 0–5) in group 2, and 2 aberrations (0–3) in group 3 ( p = 0.044).

The association between GCTTC haplotype non-carriers and advanced tumor size showed a trend towards significance (OR = 0.380, 95% CI: 0.166–0.869, p = 0.046).

40 found an association between the A2A2 genotype in patients with an early onset of OCD, and when their sample was stratified by gender, there was a trend towards significance for the A2A2 genotype (p = 0.049), and a higher frequency of the A2 alleles in male OCD patients compared to male controls.
