Although some reviews and meta-analysis found lower implant survival only for aggressive forms of periodontal disease [ 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 ], a marked trend is described in the literature pointed towards higher pocket probing depths (PPDs) [ 6 ] and marginal bone loss [ 7 , 8 , 9 ] in implants placed in periodontally compromised patients when compared to implants placed in periodontally healthy patients.
