A decrease of the attack probability within time unit between trials 1 to 4 was highly significant for both treatments indicating a strong learning effect (exp. coef. = 0.339, z = −4.25, p = <0.001 glossy: exp. coef. = 0.253, z = −4.25, p = <0.001, Fig. 4a ) with the biggest difference between trials 1 and 2 (Fig. 4a ).

In other words, the absolute activation levels achieved after primary vaccination were much higher than after booster vaccination, and this difference was highly significant (Fig. 2A ).

Although the interaction effect for the compassion ratings in the EmpaToM task was only marginally significant, an exploratory mediation analysis was conducted, which showed that alexithymia does not mediate reduced compassion in the experimental vs. control group (see Supplement S7 ).
