Both photosynthetic heterokonts tested, the diatom Phaeodactylum and pelagophyte Aureococcus , contained highly significant evidence of EGT compared with control genomes ( Table 1 ).

A highly significant restoration of blood flow was observed in control-treated groups, but not in the absence of the initial constriction response to cold ( Fig. 1d ).

Considering expression as a continuous variable, a highly significant inverse association was found between the expression of Fbw7 and several NF-κB2 target genes, such as Bcl2 and Bcl2L1 ( Supplementary Table S4 ).

Unexpectedly, we found no significant difference in chronic seizures between the Veh/Pilo/Veh and GCV/Pilo/GCV groups, although there was a decreasing trend in the SRS frequency in the GCV/Pilo/GCV group ( Fig. 6f,g ).

For upregulated transcripts, the 1-month post-DSB livers showed more overlap with normal old mouse liver than the 2-month post-DSB livers, with a small, but highly significant overlap of 29 genes that were upregulated in all three groups ( Fig. 6d ).

Error bars are substantial, but a clear trend across scales is evident, which suggests that the observed spectra are roughly consistent with this relation.

Second, for each strain we found highly significant partial correlations between Ribo-seq data and protein levels when we conditioned on RNA transcript levels ( Supplementary Table 1 ).

From an even broader perspective, the relative SST parameter (typhoon basin SST with respect to global, tropical mean SST) 35 36 also showed a decreasing trend, supporting the decline in topical cyclone (TC) activity in the recent decade (other details see Supplementary Figs 7 and 8 ).

On the basis of the P values obtained from the Wilcoxon test, we reclassified the hits as follows—‘high confidence', if Wilcoxon test P <0.05 (significant); ‘medium confidence', if Wilcoxon test P =0.057 (borderline significant); and ‘low confidence' (not significant), if Wilcoxon test P >0.057.

DJ-1 deficiency also conferred metabolic protection in a genetic model of obesity such that Dj1 −/− Lep ob/ob mice showed a trend towards reduced body weight and were more glucose tolerant compared with Dj1 +/+ Lep ob/ob littermates ( Supplementary Fig. 7f,g ).

In addition, mutation of ATRX and RBPJ were of borderline significance.

Overlap was generally highly significant between all studies, with the smaller studies being increasingly enveloped by the larger studies.

We see that the QD uncertainty values show a decreasing trend with higher magnification, and values as low as ≈5 nm are measured.

This lack of an obvious trend also suggests that an endogenous cation–pi interaction involving Trp265 does not contribute significantly to the gating process.

However, a clear trend for the energy of the new sub-gap transition is apparent, which is lower in energy for dopants of higher EA.

Flubendazole and rapamycin (included as a positive control) showed inhibitory effects on DC to T-cell transfer of HIV-1, whereas other autophagy inducers showed a trend but reached no statistical significance ( Supplementary Fig. 6a–c ).

To probe the optimum thickness of PNS for the best sensing performance, we measured the sensing response of PNS with various thicknesses and an interesting trend was observed.

The GNF4877-treated mice showed a trend towards improved glucose control demonstrating functionality of the transplanted islets ( Fig. 2l ).

While there was biological variation among specimens ( Supplementary Table 1 ), a clear trend emerged with Pvfp-5 variants in the 8–10 kDa range always being secreted first, typically within 10 s after saline injection and before other Pvfps.

Although niche associations and described sources for Lactobacillus strains and species are not all equally robust, there was a clear trend for the genomes of species isolated from animals to be smaller, consistent with genome decay in a nutrient-rich environment 18 ( Supplementary Fig. 3 ).

It may be significant for these prospects that long-range polariton propagation in the linear regime has already been demonstrated in GaN quantum well waveguides 47 .
