Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) analysis was conducted to determine whether or not there are interstrain or site-dependent differences in the gene expression profiles of skeletal muscles in SJL/J and A/J mice as dysferlinopathy models. Upon analysis by qRT-PCR, SJL/J mice showed a trend of increased gene expression level of uncoupling protein 2 in the rectus femoris and longissimus lumborum at 30 weeks of age when dystrophic lesions became histopathologically pronounced.
qRT-PCR data for GTPase RhoA ( Figure 3J ) and phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase ( Figure 3K ) showed a trend similar to that of the array data ( Figure 2A ), where GTPase RhoA showed fewer transcripts at the 4 or 12 h time points, and phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase showed lower mRNA expression at the 12 or 24 h time points in E 2 -treated samples compared to controls ( Figure 3J and 3K ). qRT-PCR also showed a significant increase in phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase transcript numbers at 24 hours of transition in controls compared to E 2 -treated samples ( Figure 3K ).
The measure of coronal skew was correlated with the AQ for prefrontal width (r = −0.19) and also showed a trend toward a low correlation with the cingulate sulcus trait, although this result did not meet standard thresholds for statistical significance after correcting for multiple tests. 3 Variance Component Analysis of Genetic and Environmental Influences Prior to estimating the genetic contributions to the AQs, we implemented variance component analysis to estimate the proportion of variance due to genetic (heritability estimate) and environmental influences on cerebral volume and width measurements from the left and right hemispheres (upper portion of Table 5 ).

Another 6 open-label or retrospective case studies showed a trend toward decreased sundowning and improved sleep quality. 90 Several recent studies which reflect use of melatonin specifically in patients with dementia, demonstrated that melatonin reduces sundowning behavior, nocturnal activity, decreases sleep latency, and improves quality of sleep. 89 - 91 De Jonghe et al. 47 performed a systematic search of the literature related to melatonin treatment in dementia which was published between 1985 and 2009.

Subsequent analysis found that GMK had induced antibody responses in 80% of vaccinated patients, and that those patients who had developed anti-GM2 antibody response showed a trend to improve outcome compared to those without immune response—indicating that a lack of immune response was not to blame.
