Although no differences were found, the pessary group showed a trend towards a lower rate of perinatal adverse outcomes, being 11.1 % in the cerclage group and 3.7 % in the pessary group [RR: 0.33, 95 % CI: 0.04–3.01, p = 0.61] and NICU admission rates were lower [14.8 %] as compared to the cerclage group [38.5 %] [RR: 0.38, 95 % CI: 0.14–1.08, p = 0.066].
Left-handers showed a trend in the same positive direction, which did not approach significance, likely due to the small number of left-handers ( b = .022), F (1, 416) = 0.27, p = .61.
Sarcopenia alone at baseline showed a trend toward higher frailty odds (OR = 1.86, 95% CI: 0.17–20.51, p = 0.613), while interestingly osteopenia/osteoporosis alone showed a trend toward lower frailty odds (OR = 0.68, 95% CI: 0.15–3.21, p = 0.63).
Dark tadpoles showed a trend towards lower oxidative damage (MAD; t value = − 0.512, p-value = 0.62) and higher non-enzymatic antioxidant capacity (GSH/GSSG ratio; t value = 1.09, p-value = 0.301) compared to light tadpoles (Fig. 6 b,c).
Eye-contact ( M eye ( SD ) = 88.756 (47.616), M no_eye ( SD ) = 83.442 (40.116), F (1,41) eye_cont = 3.005, p = .091, η 2 p = 0.068, 95% CI [-0.859, 11.267]) showed a trend, and attribution ( M self ( SD ) = 84.913 (53.165), M other ( SD ) = 87.285 (37.378), F (1,41) attrib = 0.248, p = .621, η 2 p = 0.006, 95% CI [-12.691, 7.671]) did not have a significant main effect, indicating that participants attributed similar comfortable personal distance to the experimenter as to themselves (Fig 4a and 4b).
IFN-γ showed a trend of strong downregulation of >7-fold by both EV treatments ( p = 0.626).
Subgroup analysis on patients with either unchanged or up-staged disease showed a trend towards worse survival for patients with up-staged T stage ( P = 0.628; Supplementary Figure 1 ).
Conversely, patients with high estimated Ct values showed a trend toward an increased risk of major bleeding, with an incidence of 2.88 per 100 person-years compared with 1.15 in the within-range group (log-rank P = 0.64; HR and 95% CI 2.49 [0.31, 20.18], P = 0.39).

Again, although the regression showed a trend in the hypothesized direction, it did not account for a significant amount of the variability ( r 2 (7) = 0.04, P = 0.65), indicating that S ECAP may not be a good predictor of S at the appropriate lower level, as discussed above.
