Unsurprisingly, given the relatively large sample size ( n = 988), traditional statistical indices detected nominally significant DIF across five out of seven items, although only two items indicated DIF on the slope parameter (see Table 3 ).

For self-reported depression and anxiety, several loci with P < 1 × 10 −5 in discovery cohort were detected to be nominally significant in the replication.
Loci that contained at least one SNP that was nominally significant (after Bonferroni correction for 36 loci tested: p < 0.05/36) were classified as ‘novel-replicated’.
Although only the most significant SNP (rs10795668, P =0.0018) would be significant after Bonferroni's adjustment, all five nominally significant SNPs would be considered significant on a basis of an FDR of 0.1 (rs10795668, rs7014346, rs12953717, rs4779584 and rs4939827).
Sexually dimorphic SNPs could either show (i) concordant effect direction (CED), if the association is present in one sex ( P-men or P-women at 5% FDR) and at least nominally significant and directionally concordant in the other ( P-women or P-men <0.05, respectively), (ii) single sex effect (SSE), if the association is present in one sex and not significant in the other, or (iii) opposite effect direction (OED), if the association is present in one sex and at least nominally significant in the opposite direction in the other sex.
Genes that demonstrated nominally significant association ( P Uncorrected < 0.05), were selected to test association of common and rare variant enrichment in the ASRB cohorts as they display evidence of a potential polygenic effect (Fig. 1 ).
In this analysis we considered the widely excepted p -value threshold of 5 × 10 − 8 as genome-wide significant and 1 × 10 − 5 as nominally significant.
One hundred twenty-six out of 300 (42%) of these were nominally significant and 70 met FDR corrected significance.
As shown in Table 2 , nominally significant differences of allele frequencies were detected for three SNPs in NLGN3 gene in total samples contrasted between individuals with ASDs and controls and these differences remained significant after Bonferroni correction for multiple testing.
Nominally significant associations were found for peer victimization with global FA and MD, with more peer victimization relating to higher FA and lower MD (FA: β = 0.10, 95%CI = 0.02;0.18, p = .01; MD: β = −0.09, 95%CI = −0.17;−0.01, p = .03, respectively).
Among the evaluated continuous variables, the only nominally significant finding in the unadjusted analysis was an inverse correlation between Mn concentration and BMI.
We next performed clustering and pathway analysis using an expanded list of 674 nominally significant genes that were differentially regulated in Clec12a −/− BMDMs at baseline as well as in response to Listeria .
For the CAD PGS, no proteins were Bonferroni significant and 3 of 11 (27%) proteins were nominally significant.
First, a single, nominally significant association should be viewed as tentative until it has been independently replicated at least once, and preferably twice.
There was a nominally significant increase in serum levels of PLGF in each cohort, except in cohort 4 ( P- values ranged from 0.03 to 0.12 across timepoints; Supplemental Data, Figure 2A ), which may be related to the limited number of available patient data ( n = 3) for that cohort.
Improvement in overall disease activity A greater proportion of patients attained a BICLA response in the anifrolumab group compared with the placebo group from Week 8 (second assessment, nominal p<0.001); this nominally significant treatment difference was seen in all subsequent visits through to Week 52 ( figure 1A ).
Out of six single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in TACR1, one (rs11688000) showed a nominally significant association with a decreased risk of symptomatic OA versus asymptomatic OA in the cohort participants.
All regions remained at least nominally significant indicating that the underlying risk variants could be the same in the two pedigrees.
Nominally significant reports of interactions have been reported in these studies (some distinguishing between spontaneous and indicated preterm birth and some not) but the sample sizes are too small to generate robust results.
A total of 28 associations to injury severity or recovery were reproduced at 5% FDR, with a further 30 nominally significant ( Fig. 5 , E and F ).
Figure 2 illustrates the nominally significant miRNAs associated with prevalent AF among men described by a volcano plot.
When we excluded carriers younger than 18 years, associations between brain features and both penetrance scores were still nominally significant while showing the same trend of effect ( Table S10 ).
Although nominally significant without adjustment for multiple testing, these interactions were not noteworthy after adjustment using the FDR method.
Finally, while we adjusted for multiple testing by reporting FDR, we included nominally significant results in our tables.
We revealed no major differences between the uncomplicated and complicated MTBI group except nominally significant differences with lower FA/higher RD in the body of the corpus callosum and the right uncinate in the complicated compared to the uncomplicated group.
