Moreover, in these four smoking-related CpG sites identified in ER+ breast cancer, only cg25839482 showed a nominally significant effect on ER− breast cancer risk [OR =0.92, 95% CI (0.88–0.96)], but failed to pass the multiple test correction ( q -value = 0.085) ( Figure 2 ).

This variant has been identified as nominally significant in multiethnic populations, as reported in CL/P. 7 Noteworthy is its behavior within the CS13 stage, marked by active regulatory mark H3K4me2, where it registers the highest absolute SAD score (52.78), indicating its potential regulatory influence.
All statistical tests were 2 sided, with P <0.05 considered nominally significant.
Since we analysed 3 variants across 10 subgroups, a two-sided p-value ≤ 0.016 for the overall analyses and a two-sided p-value ≤ 0.0016 for the subgroup analyses were considered nominally significant.
After further adjustment for BMI, diabetes, and smoking (Model 2), total sialylation and especially disialylated core-fucosylated glycan structures (GP23 and GP24) remained negatively associated with CAD+ ( Table 2 and Table S4 ), but the association between agactosylation and CAD+ was only nominally significant ( Table 2 ).
Interaction pairs that that are nominally significant in the “case-only” first step are passed on to the second step of interaction testing.
The aspirin group, although only consisting of 8 genes, showed a nominally significant increase in connectivity compared to the full cyan module, suggesting it may be a useful modulator of cyan module expression.
Although nominally significant, we checked the significance of our effect sizes after correction for multiple tests based on the Bonferroni correction method.
Results Forward MR analysis identified nominally significant associations between coronary atherosclerosis and five cancer types; however, after rigorous sensitivity analyses, only the inverse associations with pancreatic cancer (OR = 0.90, 95 % CI = 0.83–0.98 and hepatic cancer (OR = 0.87, 95 % CI = 0.81–0.94 remained robust.
Through an adaptive gene–environment interaction test, they identified nominally significant FMNL2 interactions in all groups but African Americans.
Sensitivity analyses additionally adjusting for caffeine ( Table S6 , available at www.aaojournal.org ) and excluding participants with Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, or multiple sclerosis ( Table S7 , available at www.aaojournal.org ) resulted in very modest attenuation of the associations with mGCIPL, although they all remained nominally significant.
As shown in Table 3 , the A-allele of rs2254298, which also shows a nominally significant association on the single SNP level, falls exclusively on the significant haplotype.
The detected nominally significant associations between PART and two MAPT 3 ′ UTR polymorphisms and haplotypes did not survive Bonferroni correction.
While nominally significant associations between coffee/fish intake and PVS require further validation, our findings emphasize the potential of targeted nutritional interventions in CSVD prevention.
SNPs showing nominally significant associations are reported in Tables S1–S3 .
As shown in Table 1 , these studies yield a nominally significant correlation of G/C odds ratios in the case-control study and a near-significance correlation in the TCT study, with the “low-expression” G -allele identified as the risk allele in both studies.
Adjustment for education level did not diminish the significance of the variants associated with B-SEVLT and WFT meaningfully, but had an impact on those associated with DSST, though they remained nominally significant (Table 2 ).
Prior to conducting the causality analysis, we ensured that the blood levels of the identified analytes have at least nominally significant LD score regression (LDSC)-based 27 genetic correlation with severe COVID-19 risk.
Secondly, we compared the observed number of studies (O) of nominally significant results included in a meta-analysis with the expected number (E) of statistically significant results, by using the excess significance test [ 26 ].
In total, we tested 6 eQTLs and for 3 of them we observed a directionally consistent, nominally significant difference in effect in the two sexes (Additional file 2 : Table S9).
Results Two different linkage methods revealed multiple nominally significant signals, two to four of which are "replicated" in Cohort 2.
P ≤ 0.01 was considered significant, and P value between 0.05 and 0.01 was considered nominally significant.
Transcriptomic analyses for these genes showed nominally significant replication of PPP3R1 in two of four cohorts including whole blood and prefrontal cortex, while ASGR1 and CD63 were replicated in only one cohort.
As a result, the number of studies that reported a positive result (a nominally significant effect at α < .05) was more than double what would be expected based on formal power calculations if all of the reported effect sizes were accurate, and more than four times the expected number if only half of the reported effect sizes were accurate.
In the final analysis, a Bonferoni correction was applied to any nominally significant results.
