The BF% increasing allele of rs6857 near TOMM40 / APOE is significantly associated with increased overall adiposity (BMI), abdominal adiposity (WHR adjBMI ), visceral adipose tissue (VAT) and liver fat storage, which may be mediating the nominally significant association with increased fasting glucose and risk of T2D ( Table 2 and Supplementary Table 13 ).

These associations, although nominally significant, do not reach the stringent levels of significance appropriate for candidate gene or genome-wide scans, and could have occurred by chance.
Seven of these 70 variants also showed nominally significant associations of AD‐risk and transcript levels with either African or East Asian local ancestry.
Other nominally significant genes were identified on chromosomes 6, 20, 3, 14, 1, and 7.
In order to explore the regularities between these factors, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of the GM associated with the nominally significant taxa in “ALD”, “Cirrhosis”, “Hepatic failure, not elsewhere classified”, “Benign neoplasm: Liver”, and “Malignant neoplasm of liver, primary”.
When excluding individuals with ID, the results remained significant for education and nominally significant for SES (Fig. 5a ).
A P-value falling between 2.23E-04 and 0.05 was considered nominally significant for a potential causal association.
The associations of GIGYF1 , ANKRD12 and APC2 did not exhibit substantial attenuation, whereas the associations of ADH1C , ADH5 and SNX17 exhibited attenuation, though still nominally significant, and the association of ADH1A lost its significance after adjustment for the nearby common variants (Supplementary Data 15 ).
A total of 9 SNPs showed nominally significant associations under different models, of which 7 originated from the Affymetrix set (TSC1050696, TSC1126117, TSC0881142, TSC0855552, TSC0044171, TSC0551906, and TSC0274878) and 2 from the Illumina set (rs790142, and rs140643).
Overall, Combination 5 returned the best performance, which integrated 1212 nominally significant gene expression values and clinical phenotypes including ASCVD risk, with the improved AUC of 0.919 (Fig. 5 A).
While this post-hoc analysis yielded no statistically significant results after correction for multiple testing ( P values presented in the last column), the top 10 diseases were very similar (with higher but nominally significant P values for the top three hits) with the analysis using the broader reference set of genes.
It of course changed p-values, as would be expected with a decrease in the number of independent observations, but only a small number of p-values that were nominally significant become slightly insignificant.
The two nominally significant Reactome results (FDR ≤ 0.1) were Regulation of actin dynamics for phagocytic cup formation::2029482 and Fcgamma receptor (FCGR) dependent phagocytosis::2029480 .
We observed a nominally significant association for only two T2D markers in RREB1 ( Table 2 ) and PRKAG1 , one obesity (OB) marker in the OR2Y1 gene, and for several BMI markers in the ACP1 , RBBP6 , and C14orf39 genes.
We used the Bonferroni method to correct multiple testing, and a P value of less than 0.0025 ( α = 0.05/20 outcomes) was considered statistically significant whilst a P value of less than 0.05 was regarded as nominally significant.
Analysis was carried out using ALIGATOR ( 28 ), which converts a list of significant and nominally significant SNPs into a list of significant genes and tests this list for enrichment for genes within the gene sets, allowing for variable numbers of SNPs per gene.
It was reported that mutant allele of rs9651118 was associated with reduced lung cancer risk in never smokers, and a nominally significant association with schizophrenia in the form of haplotypes (rs1801133, rs17421511, rs17037396, and rs9651118) in the MTHFR gene in a Japanese population [ 30 , 31 ].
Associations between gender dimensions and health technology self-efficacy dimensions The results of our model indicate a nominally significant difference in computer self-efficacy (CSE) between women and men, with women scoring slightly lower.
There were nominally significant interactions between AIB1 diplotypes and radiotherapy that appeared to be driven by AIB1_2.
The covariates for sex and familial high risk of schizophrenia were at least nominally significant in some of the regressions (for sex, in all but the regression for RIST verbal; for schizophrenia, in all but the regression for aiming, and catching), but familial high risk of bipolar disorder was not.
This CpG site also had suggestive p -values for the BDI-II 14 threshold (Δ beta = 4.10E-04, p -value = 3.76E-06) and nominally significant p-values for the BDI-II 20 threshold, EPDS continuous, and EPDS 13 threshold variables (Table 2 , Fig. 1 , Figures S5 – S8 ).
This may be the reason for the limited number of identified new loci and the high false-positive rate of nominally significant GWAS signals.
However, the association between MCP-1 and IGM was only nominally significant, but not after Bonferroni adjustment for multiple testing.
In line with this finding, Bild et al 32 found a nominally significant association between a 10–mm Hg increment in SBP and CAC among a young population with a mean SBP of 112 mm Hg (adjusted OR, 1.31 [95% CI, 0.98–1.74]).
