The medial tibial plateau sagittal length (MTPSL) was slightly greater in the MMPRT group compared with controls, although this difference narrowly missed statistical significance. Traditionally, a shorter sagittal plateau length has been theorized to reduce the tibial articular surface available for meniscal excursion, thereby increasing localized contact stresses on the posterior root during flexion.
Most recently, the PARAGON‐HF trial, which compared sacubitril/valsartan to valsartan, narrowly missed statistical significance for the primary endpoint of total heart failure hospitalizations and cardiovascular death. 17 However, the data from PARAGON‐HF suggested that patients with LVEF at or below the pre‐specified median of 57% had a greater treatment benefit than those with higher LVEF, and this finding was confirmed when LVEF was assessed continuously.
93 In a subsample of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey III, the prevalence of sarcopenic obesity was 42.9% in men and 18.1% in women, but only women had an increased risk of all-cause mortality with sarcopenic obesity (although this narrowly missed statistical significance if mobility limitations were added to the regression analysis). 94 Possibly associated with the risk of morbidity (but having an inconsistent effect on mortality), sarcopenic obesity has been associated with increased risk of adverse cardiovascular events.
