For example, Lu and Cantor describe a method that allows for sex-specific associations, resulting in highly significant findings at the ryanodine receptor 2 locus ( P <3.9 × 10 -11 ) in a multiplex autism dataset [ 8 ].

Among variants tested for association in GTEx, we observed a highly significant eQTL for TMPRSS2 expression at rs35074065 (p=3.9 × 10 −11 ) as well as more nominal eQTL evidence at rs1557372 (p=2.9 × 10 −5 ) and rs9974995 (p=3.5 × 10 −6 ).
