Simple effects analyses split by group revealed no significant difference between the sleep and wake group in Session 1, p = .075, d = 0.47, suggesting no time-of-day effect for initial learning but it was close to significance, but a significant difference in Session 2, p < .001, d = 1.15, with the sleep group rated significantly higher than the wake group (see Figure 3 ).
When post-treatment samples were also classified according to therapy, a significant reduction in inverse Simpson’s ( p = 0.049) index was detected in paired t-test exclusively for samples from patients treated with a FED, while p -values were close to significance for Chao1 and Shannon’s H indices (0.056 and 0.075, respectively) (Fig. 1 D–F).
Although the F ST value associated with Dmrt3 is only close to significance after correction, the exact probability for the observed distribution of the male‐specific allele can be computed from combinatorial statistics as the ratio of 2 8 × 11!/(8! × 3!) = 42,240 (number of combinations of eight copies of allele 281 among 11 males, one copy each) over 44!/(8! × 36!) = 177,232,627 (number of combinations of these eight copies among 44 copies of Dmrt3 ), which amounts to P ~ 2.4 × 10 −4 .
For anxiety, the direct effects in the structural model did not reach statistical significance, and the direct path for the highly active–walking dominant profile was only close to significance, indicating that the protective effect of physical activity patterns on anxiety was mainly realized through the indirect path of emotion regulation ability.
