Recently, a meta-analysis on 18,766 women with median follow-up 5.6 years showed that by using bisphosphonates including zoledronic acid, the reductions in recurrence (RR 0.·94, 95% CI 0.87–1.01; 2p=0.08), distant recurrence (0.92, 0.85–0.99; 2p=0.03), and breast cancer mortality (0.91, 0.83–0.99; 2p=0.04) were of only borderline significance, but the reduction in bone recurrence was more significant (0.83, 0.73–0·94; 2p=0.004).
Given the small effect sizes, the borderline significance at baseline, and multiple comparisons, integration of these metrics into screening or diagnostic algorithms should await confirmation in larger, multicenter, prospective studies that include contemporaneous biochemical profiling and reproducibility assessments.
Final model The final multivariable model of characteristics independently associated with high frustration included younger age, higher stress, more hours worked per week (borderline significance), medicine subspecialty, and higher reported percentages of patients with psychosocial and substance abuse problems (Table 4 ).
However, to avoid the well-recognized biases associated with univariate screening (e.g., potential omission of important confounders with borderline significance, overfitting, and exaggerated effect estimates), we also forced clinically essential variables (e.g., age) into the multivariable model regardless of their univariate p -value, and we considered clinical relevance from prior literature as an additional criterion.
A second finding is that village inhabitants who spend a significant amount of time outside the village seem to have a lower risk for HAT infection (regular work outside village, having family members in neighbouring villages, visiting cattle market (borderline significance)) whereas activities involving presence in the village during the entire day (working in household as main occupation) appear to carry a higher risk of HAT.
To assess the impact of missing covariates, we applied multiple imputation for missing BMI, education, cigarette smoking status, exercise, walking, histories of hypertension and diabetes data using PROC MI and PROC MIANALYSE. All analyses were performed using SAS 9.4, and we determined when a two-tailed p -value was less than 0.05 as the statistical significance and 0.05-<0.10 as borderline significance.
Similarly, the borderline significance of MA over glucocorticoids (GC) in pain reduction (MD = −2.42, 95% CI: −4.89 to 0.05) aligns with evidence that GCs exert short-term anti-inflammatory effects, whereas MA’s stromal vascular fraction promotes tissue regeneration through paracrine signaling [ 33 ].
Although none of the individual studies reported statistically significant differences in serious toxicities between patients with UC and central tumors ( 9 , 12 , 13 , 15 , 41 ), considering the small patient number of individual studies and borderline significance found in our subgroup comparisons, we support the notion that applying SBRT for UC tumors carries a greater risk of fatal toxicities than does applying it for central tumors.
