To further quantify the effect of a polygenic load of lithium response among MDD, we divided the MDD cases into quartiles based on their PRS of lithium response and observed a clear trend of a higher proportion of TRD cases in the higher PRS quartiles ( P trend < 0.005 in all definitions; Fig. 1C ).
