Results Clinical data Perinatal and postnatal clinical factors obtained from the medical records of the participants in the study show that some of these characteristics (type of childbirth; skin-to-skin contact, hospitalization at birth, and incubator required) did not show a clear trend that allows establishing a relationship between the factors measured and BMI, even so, we were able to observe that only 20% of normal-weight children had premature gestation, of the 80% who were born full term, 84.9% had optimal birth weights (2.5–4 kg), as detailed in Table 1 .
Without any intermediate gas purification, the study circumvents the issue of residual CO 2 affecting FE in Cell-2 by assuming that, under the highly alkaline conditions present, any unreacted CO 2 will be rapidly adsorbed and precipitate as bicarbonate on the cathode surface. In reality, the presence of CO 2 in the CO stream from Cell-1 makes it impossible to accurately calculate FE in Cell-2, as the participation of CO 2 in downstream reactions disrupts standard FE calculations. However, if we set aside this complication and accept the authors’ approach, the reported results indicate a clear trend: higher CO concentration from Cell-1 leads to increased FE for C 2+ products in Cell-2 ( Figure b).
The outcomes ‘non-fatal MI’ (total seven studies) and ‘non-fatal stroke’ (total three studies) also did not show a clear trend, but all studies varied in design and population thus hindering a further evaluation by meta-analysis.
Moreover, there were also significant increases in the PIR from Q1 to Q4 ( p < 0.001), as well as in dietary intake, including energy ( p < 0.001) and macronutrients such as protein and carbohydrates (both p < 0.001), indicating a clear trend toward higher socioeconomic status and improved dietary intake from Q1 to Q4.
