Using DBS, the upstream control element (UCE) and core promoter (CP) region as well as the 5′ external transcribed spacer (ETS) showed highly significant correlations between methylation and age (UCE/CP ρ = 0.68; p < 0.0001 and ETS ρ = 0.60, p < 0.0001) ( Figure S1B ).

The second validation step performed by MS-qPCR on core biopsies from 131, 59 and 36 patients with histologically diagnosed PCa, BPH and high-grade PIN, respectively, showed highly significant differences in the methylation status of the APC, TACC2, RARB, DGKZ, C5orf4 and HES5 regions between BPH and PCa ( P <0.0001).
Body mass index reductions after LSG were highly significant compared to baseline values at all time points over 10 years ( p = 0.0001) and remained significantly lower for up to 7 years post-KT.

Depression symptoms The analysis of data using the Mann–Whitney U -test revealed that after 12 months of active treatment, the general level of depression symptoms significantly decreased from 21 to 14 ( Table 2 ) (median decrease 3, P < 0.0001) among Polish patients and showed a highly significant reduction from 22 to 12 (median decrease 7, P < 0.0001) in the Germany patients.
