A highly significant positive correlation ( r = 0.74, P value = 8.8*10 −16 at 95%, CI = [0.62,0.82]) of BC with infection counts and with Death considering 10 days lag ( r = 0.84, P value = 2.02*10 −13 at 95%, CI = [0.73,0.91]) for the entire period, supports the above interpretation ( Fig. 2 (a, b)).

With additional adjustment for visceral fat, the association between rs738409 and percent liver fat was highly significant ( P = 8.88 × 10 −16 ; data not shown).
To determine the biological relevance of TDP-43-regulated APA, we studied its effects on microtubule affinity regulating kinase 3 (MARK3), a highly significant ( P = 9.4 × 10 –16 ) hit from APA analysis of ALS/FTD frontal cortex neuron nuclei containing or depleted of TDP-43.
Combining replication evidence from all 6 cohorts revealed an overall highly significant deviation from the expectation under the null (KS test p = 9.7 × 10 −16 , Fig. 4h ).
