We found only marginally significant increases if the posterior sentences associated with the prior sentences [t(15)=2.08, p uncorrect = 0.028, p correct = 0.056 for “w/prior”], and no effect if no association was available [t(15) = 1.71, p uncorrect =0.054, p correct = 0.11 for “w/o prior”].
The difference between the ratings for affiliation-related and neutral tasks F (1, 61) = 3.65, p = .061, η p 2 = .06, as well as the difference between power-related and neutral tasks F (1, 61) = 3.02, p = .087, η p 2 = .05, was only marginally significant, indicating that the participants liked affiliation-related tasks more and power-related tasks less compared with neutral tasks.
Moreover, we removed the word ‘significantly’ in one of the sentences because one of correlations ( P = 0.06) is only marginally significant, whilst the other speaks for itself, remaining highly significant after recalculation. “ As all populations were assumed to have started with a small founder group of a single or very few nests, the present size of a population was also expected to be an indicator of age and both were indeed highly correlated (Pearson correlation, n = 14, r = − 0.849, P = 0.0001; see Table 1 for details).
