In the remaining three models, the nominally significant initial studies are always published, while the non-significant originals are published based on a constant probability.
In summary, while methylation at the CPG1 site of DKK1 gene did not distinguish the patient cohorts from the healthy controls, it revealed a nominally significant epigenetic discrepancy. between the two clinical phenotypes, with the comorbid osteoporosis and osteoarthritis group exhibiting elevated methylation relative to the group with OA alone.
Out of 346 variants tested in current analysis, 33 variants were nominally significant of which 13 variants were found to be miR-eQTLs of corresponding miRNAs after Bonferroni correction ( P < 0.05/346) (Additional file 1 : Table S4).
As we tested about 22,000 genes for significance of expression, many genes may give a nominally significant p value by chance alone.
An observed P value of <.05 was considered nominally significant, whereas statistical significance corrected for multiple testing was set at P value <1.92 × 10 −3 (.05/26).
We found nominally significant associations for the first three SNPs in ROI-1, ROI-2, and ROI-3.
Although we did not find a nominally significant enrichment in the fifth ancestral population (SAS), the magnitude of enrichment was similar to that in the African (AFR) population (OR = 1.5), indicating that nonsignificance is probably a power issue ( Supplementary Note and Supplementary Fig. 9 ).
Comparison of baseline microstate transition probabilities between the NSSI and HC groups As shown in Supplementary Table 2 ; Figure 3D , in uncorrected exploratory analyses, the NSSI group showed nominally significant differences in two transition probabilities relative to the HC group.
Furthermore, the GTEx study across 44 tissues found only four si-eQTL genes with a nominally significant false discovery rate (FDR) below 0.25 in only two of the 13 brain regions examined 8 .
Model 3 was trained with all the variables of Model 2 and the nominally significant plasma proteins resulting from the differential expression analyses.
This analysis revealed a single nominally significant negative correlation between the changes in serum miR-4766-5p levels and TLEC functional measures ( Table 8 ).
2 and Table S3 ) that are at least nominally significant in both cohorts.
A causal association was considered nominally significant if the IVW method yielded P < .05. 2.5.
In one of our own cross-sectional studies [ 64 ], we reported a nominally significant gene–diet interaction between EPA in erythrocytes, CE and TG, and dietary intake of EPA in 962 men who were participating in the METSIM study ( Table 2 B).
While only these six SNPs were found to be nominally significant in both, the TDT and the case-control analysis, and therefore fulfilled the formal replication criteria, 47 SNPs were significant in only one test, including two more SNPs in the 5p13.1 region (#79, #105), one in NELL1 (#116), and one in the IBD5 region (#191).
Revefenacin produced similar, nominally significant improvements from baseline in trough FEV 1 than placebo in the LABA and non-LABA subgroups.
When the analysis focused only on worsening heart failure events, there was a nominally significant increase in risk (hazard ratio 1.28; 95% CI: 1.03, 1.59), based on an analysis of 336 events.
However, the association between maternal inorganic supplement intake and birth weight was nominally significant (adjusted ß : 4.30 per SD, i.e., 33.0 μg/day, 95% CI: 1.06, 7.53), but did not reach significance after Bonferroni correction for multiple comparisons.
Though these nominally significant results did not pass FDR correction, they potentially indicate different indirect causative chains from genetics via emotion recognition to ADHD and ASD, which need to be verified in future research.
Among nominally significant pathways, aerobactin biosynthesis (AEROBACTINSYN-PWY) showed a negative pathway-level log 2 FC (−2.56) despite positive enrichment of individual aerobactin genes, a discordance that likely reflects taxon-restricted upregulation rather than community-wide enrichment (see Discussion ).
The number of nominally significant associations and the strength of these associations with growth traits were compared to the results obtained from studies that applied the GWAS approach to identify markers associated with growth traits [ 31 ].
After correcting for multiple testing, none of these pairs showed nominally significant evidence of interaction in the WTCCC data ( File S1 Supporting Table 2) for the SNP pairs from Analysis 1 (p min = 0.0041; α≈0.05/47≈0.0011), Analysis 2 (p min = 0.0392; α≈0.05/49≈0.001), Analysis 3a (p min = 0.006; α≈0.05/45≈0.001) or Analysis 3b (p min = 0.012; α≈0.05/50≈0.001).
A meta‐analysis of the EMPEROR‐Reduced (Empagliflozin Outcome Trial in Patients With Chronic Heart Failure With Reduced Ejection Fraction) and DAPA‐HF (Dapagliflozin and Prevention of Adverse outcomes in Heart Failure) trials demonstrated a nominally significant treatment‐by‐subgroup interaction for NYHA functional class, with potentially less clinical benefit in those with NYHA class III/IV as compared with NYHA class II patients. 16 The observed discrepancy in the consistency of the effect of SGLT2i across NYHA function classes by HF phenotype may be attributable to differences in characteristics of the trial participants and/or pathophysiologic mechanisms in HFrEF as compared to HFpEF and HFmrEF.
Findings with P corrected < 0.05 were considered significant, while those with P corrected > 0.05 and P uncorrected < 0.05 were considered nominally significant.
