Because the difference between Hispanic and non-Hispanic White caregivers was nearly significant in the base model while only small differences were apparent when inspecting responses across groups (Figs. 1 and 29% participation among Hispanic caregivers and 34% among non-Hispanic White caregivers), a single predictor model was examined in which the contrast between Hispanic and non-Hispanic White caregivers (OR = 0.77, p = 0.42), and the contrast between non-Hispanic Black and non-Hispanic White caregivers (OR = 1.22, p = 0.45) were not significant.
On the other hand, ∆HR appeared moderate to largely correlated with HR baseline (r = -0.62), lnSDNN (r = 0.50), lnRMSSD (r = 0.67), lnHF (r = 0.65), lnLFHF (r = -0.51) and α 1 (r = -0.56) in the Pearson correlation; but only the association with HR baseline (r = -0.58) and lnHF (r = 0.51) remained significant in the partial correlation, although the correlation with lnLFHF (p = 0.53; r = -0.48) was also nearly significant ( Table 4 ).
Comparisons by language in separate analyses showed that, in year 2 [ F (2,93) = 14.971, p < 0.001, p η 2 = 0.25], the pupils writing in Spanish made significantly fewer root level errors than pupils writing in English ( p < 0.001), or Catalan ( p < 0.001); in year 4, the difference remained significant [ F (2,92) = 4.533, p = 0.013, p η 2 = 0.09] between the Spanish and the Catalan children ( p = 0.018) but was only nearly significant between the Spanish and the English children ( p = 0.0.66); finally in year 6, only the Spanish and the English children showed significant differences [ F (2,98) = 6.181, p = 0.003, p η 2 = 0.12] ( p = 0.002 for the post-hoc contrast).
Two studies failed to find an association between remission status and changes in hippocampal volume: one twelve week trial in LLD did, however, report nearly significant increases in hippocampal volume for remitters and decreases for non-remitters ( Khalaf et al., 2015 ) and one year-long trial in mid-life ( Frodl, 2004 ).
Deletion of the wcaJ gene, resulting in loss of colanic acid while also abolishing potentially toxic intermediates during its synthesis 29 , also showed reduced survival compared to wild-type with a nearly significant p-value of 0.0527 ( Extended Data Fig. 3c ); however this difference in severity suggests that accumulating intermediates may further sensitize the wza and wcaA mutants to TseH.
When our three measures of synergy changes – the number of muscle synergies, synergy-vector sparseness, and the Merging Index – were correlated with body height-normalized preferred running speed, not surprisingly the correlations were either significant or nearly significant (Supplementary Fig. 6B–D ), but their correlation coefficients were low (|r | = 0.20–0.36).
This is the conclusion of the Miguel and Kremer (2004) paper, and a quick look at the comparisons presented above also indicate that there are strong impacts: all three of the comparisons have large impact estimates and all three are statistically significant at over 90% confidence, with one significant at over 99% confidence and another nearly significant at 95% confidence (despite the data being split up into the three different comparisons).
