Using fixed-effects model, the results showed that the patients with hypothyroidism had a marginally significant reduction in CI compared with healthy controls (WMD=-0.53, 95%CI[-0.65, -0.41], P <0.00001), and heterogeneity analysis showed large heterogeneity (Tau2=0.21, Chi2=44.02, P < 0.00001, I 2 = 93%).
Marginally significant associations (p < 1 × 10 −5 ) are reported in Table S2 .
Two of these SNPs, rs7948623, rs11230664, are also genome-wide significant GWAS SNPs for pigmentation variation in Africans, while the third, rs3741265, is marginally significant ( p < 10 −5 , Fig. 5 ).
Loci harboring marginally significant evidence for association at P <10 −5 were examined for independent signals via regression analyses in PLINK. 16 A term was added to the regression model including the lead SNP as a covariate, and SNPs within the same candidate gene, or ±200 kb if the candidate gene region was <200 kb, were evaluated for maintaining array-wide significance.
We tested the five significant or marginally significant SNPs (p < 10 −5 ) using standard linear regression models adjusted for the same covariates as above ( S1 Table ).
Even among the 1223 marginally significant ( p < 1 × 10 −5 ) probes identified by Hannon and colleagues [ 4 ] in the discovery sample (Table S3 in [ 4 ]) there was minimal overlap in differential methylation signal at the probe ( N = 2) or gene ( N = 9 and N = 3, respectively) levels.
Increasing the number of marginally significant height SNPs in the estimates of inbreeding coefficients increased the difference with respect to the random SNPs (P < 2 × 10 −5 for top 2,500 SNPs and P < 9 × 10 −8 for top 5,000 SNPs), further providing evidence of height-based assortative mating in the ARIC European cohort (Tables 2 and 3 ).
Three significant loci were identified by this analysis ( P < 0.000002), along with a fourth marginally significant ( P < 0.00003).
35 , 36 In addition, the metaboQTL (lead SNP: rs12118651, N = 1,981, p = 3.52 × 10 −15 ) for kynurenic acid was confirmed, while previous studies have reported marginally significant results of this signal in urine (EUR, N = 1,672, p = 3.30 × 10 −5 ), 37 serum (EUR, N = 1,960, p = 4.52 × 10 −6 ), 8 and blood (EUR, N = 86,507, p = 5.41 × 10 −9 ). 38 This novel signal among EAS might be attributable to the specificity of race or the relatively large sample size.
In Table 1 , the results of the model averaging are displayed with the factors contained in the final, all being highly significant (tissue p = 4 × 10 −5 ; density/tissue p = 0.0006; density p = 0.004) with the exception of the factor gene, which was marginally significant ( p = 0.06).
While sample size used for this analysis is fairly small (due to the exclusion of netted and orange or green rind accessions), the strongest genome-wide effect that we found for this trait, on chromosome 10, was still marginally significant at FDR30% (P = 4 × 10 −5 , MLM).
The association between rs643892 in LRP5 and LS-BMD was marginally significant ( p = 8.63 × 10 −5 ).
5d ) were highly predictive of dhurrin concentration owing to a marginally significant additive (linear model coefficient estimate t = –2.18, P = 0.03) and highly significant quadratic ( t = 4.97, P < 0.0001) effect on untransformed dhurrin levels.
60 min: adjusted p = 0.151) or marginally significant (e.g., 70 vs. 50 min: adjusted p = 0.0001), and declined slightly thereafter.
Those shifts ranged from a modest four-percentage-point increase in support of legalization to a substantial 12-point jump in the share who said it us “safe for pit bulls to live in residential neighborhoods.” The differences in percentages from 2014 to 2018 for the first three questions in Figure 1 are all highly significant ( p < 0.0001), while the four-point difference in support for legalization shown in the final column of the figure is marginally significant ( p = 0.06).
