In the literature
After removing this and other non-significant interactions (see Tables SI 1–SI 4), we found a clearly significant interaction between session number and trial number and a marginally non-significant interaction between session number and group (Table SI 4).
Several other marginally non-significant peaks can be seen in the disparity plot for maximum temperature (Fig. 5 ), including two simultaneous events in the northern and southern swordtails at ~1.7 MYA (0.66 relative time): the divergence of the widely distributed X. hellerii ( P = 0.054) and its sister clade, as well as the divergence of the clade uniting X. birchmanni , X. cortezi , and X. malinche ( P = 0.074).

Three polymorphisms ( SWS2A -217, RH2B -161, CNE 7-570) exhibited significant or marginally non-significant associations with the expression of their downstream opsins (Table 6 ); however only RH2B -161 is significant following Bonferroni correction for multiple comparisons (t-tests: RH2B -161: t 17, 0.05 = 3.447, p = 0.0036).
Comparison of the numerical differences in prediction accuracy across feature sets revealed a similar pattern to the ML classification results: prediction accuracy was clearly non-significant for the “sMRI subcortex” model, marginally non-significant for the “sMRI only” model and clearly significant for the “restFC only” model 5 .
Results After seven days of intervention, the mean increase from baseline in the Glasgow coma scale (GCS) score was significantly higher in the curcumin compared with the placebo group ( P -value: 0.028), while the reduction in the APACHE-II score in the curcumin group was greater than that the placebo group in a marginally non-significant fashion ( P -value: 0.055).

To test the presence of this strategic rounding-off, the proportion of marginally significant p -values ( p -values between 0.045 and 0.049) are compared with the marginally non-significant p -values ( p -values between 0.051 and 0.054).
In a binomial GLMM across n = 182 males from 10 isolines, the four-way interaction was not statistically significant ( β = 1.937 ± 1.659, Z = 1.168, p = 0.243), but day again contributed to several interactions (though some marginally non-significant; electronic supplementary material, table S19).
