The ROI analysis further revealed two clusters in the right pSTS ROI that correlated positively with age reaching significance at the voxel‐level ( P ≤ 0.041) and approaching significance when correcting for multiple comparisons at the cluster‐level ( P ≤ 0.055, Table 3 ).

Differences for CD4:CD8 were approaching significance ( F (1, 164) = 3.742, p = 0.055).

An ANCOVA on complete cases for the 12-month weight change adjusted for baseline weight, gender and age showed an effect approaching significance p=0.056 reflecting a difference between the C-IW group of −2.2 kg (95% CI −4.6 to 0.1 kg, p=0.068) compared with differences between the C-I groups −1.9 kg (95% CI −4.5 to 0.7 kg, p=0.228) and the I and IW groups −0.3 kg (95% CI −2.8 to 2.2 kg, p=1.00).

Previous experience in dealing with problems similar to those described in the vignette was also associated with better recognition, and although this finding was not significant, it was approaching significance (P=0.056).

Trial times A main effect of model approaching significance [ F (3,33) = 2.783, p = 0.056, ES = 0.202] suggested that trial time was affected by the model being constructed, follow-up comparisons however, failed to reach significance ( p > 0.017).

FANCD2 showed the strongest trend, with variants more frequent among non-responders and a p-value approaching significance (p = 0.056), suggesting a potential link between DDR-related defects and diminished clinical improvement.

In the occipital white matter, ACE‐2 protein level was unaltered across the dementia groups compared to age‐matched controls (Table 2 , Figure 4E ) but was raised in relation to SVD severity ( p = 0.0087) with post‐hoc analysis showing higher levels in severe SVD approaching significance (0 vs. 3; p = 0.056) (Figure 4F ).

However, when this was further explored through treatment x sex analysis, a significant difference was only present between the number of cells in FCMU and FSPG (post-hoc for females; F (1,18) = 23.815, p < 0.001), whereas males were approaching significance (post-hoc for males; F (1,18) = 4.163, p = 0.056).

The main effects of Race and Gender failed to reach the required level of significance, although the main effect of Gender was approaching significance (p = 0.056).

Further analysis of the cognitive data (Faux et al., 2010 ) revealed that, based upon a ranking analysis, the high dose treatment group had a significantly higher proportion of patients showing improvement on the NTB composite z-score and executive factor z -score as compared to the placebo group, with the ADAS-cog data also approaching significance ( p = 0.056).

Following multivariable analysis, gender was approaching significance ( p = 0.056), but only prior medical knowledge ( p < 0.001) remained significant independent of gender, age, first language and employment status (Table 5 ).

Early compared to late intervention had a difference in slope approaching significance for Communication (0.14, p =0.056) and the combined non-motor score (0.33, p =0.052).

The comparison between the baseline and VOC‐positive biomarker values (see Methods ) indicates that the increase, accounting for repeated measurements, was statistically significant for FA‐WB‐Psel ( P = 0·015 ) and was approaching significance for FA‐WBC‐Psel ( P = 0·056).
