3.3.1 The global disease burden of HFAF in older women and older men From 1990 to 2021, the global disease burden of HFAF in older females showed an increasing trend.

Supporting this, a previous study reported an increasing trend in fat oxidation during the post-exercise rest period after training in hypoxia, while a decreasing trend was observed after the same training in normoxia [ 47 ].
