The increase in the number of centers and equipment available in the region, with a clear trend toward the modernization of existing infrastructure, and technological transition that includes hybrid and non-hybrid imaging, new radiopharmaceuticals as well as the significant number of well-qualified, highly competent experts developing skills in quality assurance and safety programs in practice, is becoming a trend for future development in LAC.
For instance, although Cannon and colleagues reported that mortality associated with longer door-to-balloon time manifested after two or more hours of delay, there is a clear trend towards increased mortality in patients with door-to-balloon times of 61-90 minutes and 91-120 minutes. 13 Furthermore, the few studies that have also modelled time to treatment as a continuous variable have similarly shown increases in adverse outcomes associated with any delay in treatment. 2 3 As such, differences in study findings concerning the specific shape of the association of door-to-balloon time and mortality largely reflect the manner in which different studies have modelled time to treatment rather than contradictory findings regarding the relation between time and outcomes.
Through counting the number of both significantly hypo- and hypermethylated CpG dinucleotides mapping to each of these genomic elements, a clear trend emerged: promoters, gene bodies, and regions not mapping to promoters, genes or enhancers (red bars) were highly hypomethylated in insulinomas as compared to beta cells (~90% of CpGs) (red bars in Fig. 1c , Supplementary Data 7 , 8 ).
These emerging hotspots collectively point to a clear trend, and future research will focus more on building “intelligent nano-systems” that not only achieve high-precision imaging, but also have the ability to intelligently perceive the disease microenvironment, release drugs on demand, and regulate physiological processes, promoting the dynamic, accurate, and systematic diagnosis and treatment of central nervous system diseases.
