In a study based on a population with giant common bile duct stones, researchers reported abnormal bile acid metabolism, with significant enrichment of free bile acids in the group with giant common bile duct stones and a decreasing trend of combined bile acid abundance ( Dai et al., 2023 ).

An increasing trend in antimicrobial resistance was observed among E. coli isolates, particularly against fluoroquinolones, cephalosporins, and carbapenems, while nitrofurantoin retained comparatively lower resistance rates.

On this basis, natural products have become a significant trend in anti-caries research ( Cheng et al., 2015 ; Jeon et al., 2011 ).

There is an increasing trend in the carbapenem resistance pattern since their emergence, with variations in the prevalence of carbapenemase gene variants ( Beig et al., 2024 ).

According to the latest data, overweight and obesity in adults and children are showing a worrying trend worldwide, with 45.1% of the population being overweight or obese.

Nitrate nitrogen increased with the growth process, and total nitrogen showed a decreasing trend; spatially, the surface soil had “surface enrichment” characteristics in pH (during EP), carbon and nitrogen nutrients, and water content (during EP and LP).

Escherichia-Shigella showed an increasing trend in the D-PBS group, while its abundance tended to decrease after AEV and PAEV treatment, particularly in the D-PAEV group; however, these differences did not reach statistical significance ( Figure 9E ; Supplementary Figure S7 ).

Moreover, Blautia showed a decreasing trend after DSS treatment and a mild recovery trend following AEV or PAEV intervention, although no significant differences were observed among groups ( Figure 9E ; Supplementary Figure S7B ).

With an increase in atrazine concentration, the APX activity of the atrazine alone treatment group showed a decreasing trend at the 5 to 20 mg·kg −1 concentration before rebounding at 50 mg·kg −1 .

The biological implications of this reaction may be significant in anoxic areas, but most evidence suggests that double demethylation is not a major fate of DMSP in marine surface waters.

In general, a clear trend was observed only for Eukarya and only at the station 4 (Figure 4 ).

However, its occurrence in animals might be significant.

The rest of the bands did not show a clear trend given spatial level as a factor.

OVERALL CONCLUSIONS ON METABOLIC PATHWAYS Taking into account the free energy calculations, SSU rRNA gene data and the relative abundance of functional genes in the metagenome, we conclude that several sulfur redox reactions may be significant in this environment (see Figure 8 ).

Linear modeling of gene copies versus time revealed an increasing trend of sul 2 copies with time in soil irrigated with secondary effluent ( R 2 = 0.92).

Values ranged from 0.8 ± 0.4 × 10 8 to 2.7 ± 1.1 × 10 8 cells g −1 in the surficial sediments for MV1 and MV4, respectively, indicating higher abundances in the surface sediment layers and an increasing trend along the transect from MV1 to MV4.
