We detected a trend towards an increase in the number of granule neurons in Smad3 deficient mice (23.8%) compared with their control littermates (first 500 μm; Smad3 +/+ , 40986 ± 3406; Smad3 -/- , 50797 ± 2823; P = 0.059; Figure 4 F), although this strong trend did not quite reach statistical significance.
Consistent with the UCSF results, when all three NFκB and AP-1 upregulated genes were combined to produce four subsets within each dataset, the resulting Kaplan-Meier curves showed a rank order correlation between increasingly worse outcome and number of high expressing genes (HHH > HHL > HLL > LLL); although these outcome differences did not quite reach statistical significance by Log Rank analysis, in each dataset those cases showing high expression of all three NFκB and AP-1 upregulated genes (HHH) exhibited median times to metastatic recurrence ≤ 5 years (data not shown).
This increase did not quite reach statistical significance but statistically significant increases in ubiquitination of liprin-α1 were observed in immunoprecipitates from cells transfected with the neuronal LNX1p70 isoform ( p < 0.05), which lacks the RING finger domain required for ubiquitination, and LNX2 ( p < 0.05), compared to the control vector ( Fig 3B , upper graph).
29 Jia et al demonstrated a slightly higher recurrence risk for EAEBOTs, which, however, did not quite reach statistical significance. 1 But, to further evaluate possible differences between EAEBOTs and non-EAEBOTs, studies with large sample sizes are needed.
Although the Charnley stem is considered the more historic method of hip arthroplasty, we have demonstrated equal performance of the Charnley stem when we compared it to the use of the Exeter stem, with better performance across areas such as WOMAC score which did not quite reach statistical significance.
For CO, we observed a trend across tertiles of exposure (1st tertile, 5.1%; 2nd tertile, 7.7%; 3rd tertile, 21.1%; p = 0.03) ( Table 4 ) and an increase in the odds of diagnosing FTV [adjusted odds ratio (aOR) = 2.5, 95% CI: 1.0, 6.4] with increasing ln-transformed CO exposure after covariate adjustment, although the latter did not quite reach statistical significance in adjusted or unadjusted models (see Table S2).
Considering all participants in whom 8‐oxo‐dG measurements were made ( n = 75), there was only a significant univariate relationship between 8‐oxo‐dG levels and BMI (standardized β 0.32, P = 0.005); although there were trends towards an association between 8‐oxo‐dG levels with FFMI ( P = 0.06), RV/TLC ( P = 0.08), and serum GDF‐15 ( P = 0.06), these relationships did not quite reach statistical significance.
