Conclusions A statistical difference in antibody levels before and after vaccination (1st and 2nd measurement) for each test method was observed (therefore Null Hypothesis 1 is rejected), except for the first – Qualitative test, where the test power was low and the p-value at borderline significance.

The key clinical outcomes of retinopathy (borderline significance), nephropathy (UACR), established macrovascular disease, and mortality also varied significantly with G-gap status ( Table 1 ).

There was a trend towards an association between greater CSA of psoas major (regression coefficient 3.6, 95% CI − 0.5 to 7.7, p = 0.08) and flexors total (psoas major and rectus femoris; regression coefficient 2.3, 95% CI − 0.3 to 5.0, p = 0.08) and better hip-related quality of life, achieving borderline significance.

Adiposome lipidomics; certain lipid species, including SM d41:1, PI 18:1/18:2; and PC 19:0 lipid species were higher in females (log 2 fold change [FC] = 1.4, 1.3, 1.1), though these differences showed only borderline significance after multiple-testing correction.

Although relatively strong effects of about −13% to 14% (depending on stratification) were observed with borderline significance, similar effects were found in the validation analyses.

In light of this finding, it is interesting to consider that in addition to the 2 significant effects at the 0.01-level regarding level of knowledge, differences in a further 5 statements achieved borderline significance (0.08–0.02).

Both p -values, although greater than 0.017, were lower than 0.05 and, therefore, can be interpreted as a trend (borderline significance).

Most of the genes have not been reported to show borderline significance with BMI, as detailed in Table S2 .

Furthermore, in ALS patients, plasma samples showed a significantly elevated exosomal TDP-43 ratio compared to baseline at 3- and 6-month follow-up and borderline significance at 12-month follow-up (Chen et al., 2020).

For OS only borderline significance was detected, which is most likely due to the small number of events.

The borderline significance of this finding may be due to our inclusion criteria requiring children to have either a history or presence of fever to be enrolled.

A negative correlation between TMZ’s effect and contrast volume ( R = -0.187, unadjusted p = 0.007, Bonferroni-adjusted p = 0.056, FDR-adjusted p = 0.017) hinted at dose-independent protection, retaining borderline significance with FDR.
