The results of the linear regression model, considering the age categories (i.e., preterm, term newborns and infants, children, adolescents), indicated an increasing trend in the number of registered PASs over time in all age groups ( Figure 2 ; all the regression coefficients were positive: preterm/term newborn and infants 0.44 with R 2 = 0.144; children with a regression coefficient 0.49 with R 2 = 0.118; adolescents 0.33 with R 2 = 0.073).
However, the POD activity of the control group was significantly higher than the other 1-MCP groups after 15 days of storage, but the control group showed a decreasing trend in the POD activity, while the 1-MCP treatment group showed an increasing trend after 15–20 days of storage ( Figure 4 C).
The correlation analysis between patient age and ANA positivity showed an increasing trend in ANA positivity with increasing patients’ age, Supplementary Fig. 6A: in particular, results showed 10% (2/20 pts) of ANA ≥ 1:160 positive MDS in the group aged up to 65 years compared to MDS patients older than 65 years (27.9% 17/61 pts, p = 0.1339).
