Significant cocaine–CPP potentiation was obtained at the U50,488 dose of 5 mg/kg ( n =12–21; one-way ANOVA; F 3, 68 =3.09, p <0328; Dunnet's post hoc U50,488–5 mg/kg ( n =21) vs saline ( n =21), p <0.05), but was absent at 2.5 and 10 mg/kg U50,488 ( p >0.05), although there was a trend toward significance at 10 mg/kg U50,488 ( Figure 3c ).
Biomarkers were not different across racial/ethnic subgroups (p = 0.12 for cortisol; p = 0.82 for epinephrine; p = 0.96 for norepinephrine; p = 0.60 for composite biomarker index), although DHEA-S showed a trend toward significance: median 49 μg/dL (IQR: 32–77) among non-Hispanic Black women, median 57 μg/dL (IQR: 46–64) among non-Hispanic white women, median 119 μg/dL (IQR: 75–178) among Hispanic women, and median 64 μg/dL (IQR: 30–92) among multiracial or American Indian/Alaska Native women (p = 0.064).
While there was no significance to the stratification of patient outcomes based on treatment type, likely due to this analysis being underpowered to detect this difference, there was a trend toward significance with the GKS as a boost after surgery or as salvage after surgery being associated with longer survival times as compared to the other treatment types.
Given that the effect size for RPC VD difference between the groups was moderate (hedges g = 0.72) and the microcapillary VD showed a trend toward significance, the lack of statistical significance may be attributed partly to our small sample size.
