A statistical trend toward lower use of non-selective beta-blockers and higher use of selective beta-blockers was observed in the meningitis cohort compared to the general population corrected for age (non-selective beta-blockers 0.9 vs. 1.8%; OR 1.96 [95% CI 0.88–4.39]; p = 0.09; selective beta-blockers 15.2% vs. 12.9%, OR 0.83 [95% CI 0.67–1.02], p = 0.08) [18] .
