Results Immediately after the intervention, the DIG programme showed a positive trend in overall social participation (3.04 point increase in intervention group vs. − 0.29 in control), though not statistically significant in fully adjusted analysis (FAMD = 3.14, 95% CI = (− 1.26, 7.54); p = 0.17), possibly due to sample size limitations and variability in individual responses.
Main Findings Our systematic review results revealed a positive trend for PIs in Mexico, including pharmacotherapeutic follow-up and patient education, with significant decreases in HbA1c, FBG, triglycerides, TC, LDL cholesterol and arterial blood pressure levels, as well as a statistically significant increase in HDL cholesterol levels, therapeutic adherence and the level of knowledge among patients with T2DM.
Furthermore, the lack of access to antihypertensive drugs was greater in those individuals with less education (1–4 and 9–11 years). Regarding the characteristics of individuals according to chronic diseases, there was a higher prevalence of hypertension among female individuals, with a positive trend with age.
