It can be appreciated that although a positive trend may be apparent, no more than 13.2% of patients in NHANES 1999–2004 attained recommended goals of A1C level <7%, blood pressure <130/80 mmHg, and total cholesterol level <200 mg/dl (5.18 mmol/l).
