Our current data did not allow us to identify factors relating to possible abuse histories that may have differed systematically between our male and female participants; our data showed a nonsignificant trend (after Bonferroni correction) for men with dissociative seizures to be more likely to be prescribed AEDs, raising the possibility of medical factors being more pertinent for men than women in the sample.
