Ingredients
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 onion
- 0.5 green bell pepper
- 500 g ground beef
- 2 garlic cloves
- 5 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp yellow mustard
- 4 burger buns
- salt and pepper
Method
- 1
Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the onion and bell pepper until softened, about 5 minutes.
- 2
Add the ground beef, breaking it up, and brown until no pink remains, about 7 minutes. Drain off excess fat if needed, then add the garlic for 1 minute.
- 3
Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire, brown sugar, mustard, 3 tablespoons water, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
- 4
Simmer over low heat for 8-10 minutes, stirring, until thick and saucy (not watery). Taste and adjust — it should be a balance of sweet and tangy.
