Guacamole
Fresh avocado dip with lime, onion, and cilantro. The trick is ripe avocados and plenty of lime and salt.
by Culicious Kitchen
Ingredients
- 3 ripe avocados
- 1 lime
- 0.5 small red onion
- 1 tomato
- fresh cilantro
- 1 small jalapeño
- 0.5 tsp salt
Method
- 1
Check the avocados are ripe — they should yield to gentle pressure. Cut each in half around the pit, twist apart, and remove the pit (carefully tap it with a knife and twist out, or scoop it).
- 2
Scoop the avocado flesh into a bowl with a spoon.
- 3
Immediately squeeze the lime juice over the avocado and add the salt. The lime adds flavor and stops the avocado browning.
- 4
Mash with a fork to your liking — chunky is traditional, smooth if you prefer. Don't over-mash; some texture is nice.
- 5
Fold in the diced red onion, tomato, cilantro, and jalapeño (if using).
