Ingredients
- 1 baguette or ciabatta loaf
- 100 g butter
- 4 garlic cloves
- small handful parsley
- 30 g Parmesan
- pinch of salt
Method
- 1
Preheat the oven to 200°C/400°F.
- 2
Make the garlic butter: mash together the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, Parmesan (if using), and a pinch of salt until well combined.
- 3
Slice the bread: either cut it into thick slices, or slice it lengthways in half to make two long halves.
- 4
Spread the garlic butter generously over the cut surfaces, getting it into all the nooks.
- 5
Wrap in foil for soft garlic bread, or leave open on a tray for crispy edges. Bake for 10-12 minutes (open) until golden and the butter is bubbling.
- 6
For extra-crisp tops, finish under the broiler for 1-2 minutes — watch closely so it doesn't burn. Cut into pieces and serve warm.
