Chocolate Chip Cookies
Soft-in-the-middle, chewy-edged cookies loaded with chocolate. Chilling the dough deepens the flavor and stops them spreading too thin.

Ingredients
- 250 g plain flour
- 0.5 tsp baking soda
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 170 g butter
- 150 g brown sugar
- 100 g white sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 250 g chocolate chips
Method
- 1
Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl and set aside.
- 2
In a large bowl, beat the softened butter with both sugars until light and fluffy, 2-3 minutes. This creaming step adds air for a better texture.
- 3
Beat in the whole egg, the extra yolk (for extra chew), and the vanilla until combined.
- 4
Add the dry ingredients and mix on low JUST until no flour remains — overmixing makes tough cookies. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- 5
