BBQ Pulled Pork
Meltingly tender shredded pork in a tangy barbecue sauce, cooked low and slow in the oven. Mostly hands-off; great for sandwiches.

Ingredients
Ingredients
- 2 kg pork shoulder
- 250 ml chicken stock
- 300 ml barbecue sauce
- 8 burger buns
Rub
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp black pepper
Method
- 1
Preheat the oven to 150°C/300°F. Pat the pork dry with paper towels (dry meat browns better).
- 2
Mix the rub ingredients and massage them all over the pork, into every crevice.
- 3
Place the pork in a deep roasting dish or Dutch oven and pour the stock around it (not over the top). Cover tightly with a lid or a double layer of foil to trap the steam.
- 4
Roast low and slow for about 4 hours. It's done when the meat is fork-tender and pulls apart with almost no resistance. Patience is everything here — undercooked shoulder is tough.
